Jayson Pharmaceuticals has one of the longest histories in this industry. It began in 1956 as Pakistan Medical Supplies and took the name Jayson in 1972. It is the original business of the Jayson Group, which today also includes herbal medicines, veterinary products, animal feed and a flour mill, under managing director Md. Salimullah.
The company makes its medicines at a factory on Tejgaon Industrial Area in Dhaka. Its range is deliberately wide, covering tablets, syrups, injectables and eye drops. Some of its everyday brands include Povisep, a povidone-iodine antiseptic, Megafen, a diclofenac painkiller, Ascoson, a vitamin C range, and Oncodex, an ondansetron product for nausea. Many of these are low-priced staples for hospitals and pharmacies.
In terms of size, Jayson is a smaller player. IQVIA data shows about Tk 8 crore in retail market sales between April 2024 and March 2025, though hospital and institutional supply is not fully captured in that figure. Overseas, trade records show small shipments to markets such as the Philippines and Myanmar.
For the future, the company says its policy is to think globally while meeting local needs. It has also upgraded its production lines and R&D unit to match international trade standards, as it aims to supply more export markets.
