Phenytoin Sodium is indicated for the treatment of:
- Generalised tonic-clonic and partial seizures.
- Status epilepticus (IV).
- Prevention of seizures during neurosurgery.

Dosage & Administrationমাত্রা ও সেবনবিধি
Dosage and administration of Phenytoin Sodium:
- Adults: oral 300 mg daily (about 3-4 mg/kg) in one or two doses, adjusted by blood levels.
- IV loading dose 15-20 mg/kg at a rate not above 50 mg/min with heart monitoring (hospital).

Phenytoin Sodium should not be used in:
- Sinus bradycardia, heart block, Stokes-Adams syndrome.
- Porphyria; hypersensitivity.

Possible side effects of Phenytoin Sodium:
- Unsteadiness, double vision, nystagmus, drowsiness, gum overgrowth, rash, excess hair growth.
- Serious: severe skin reactions (consider HLA-B*1502 testing in Asian ancestry), birth defects, bone loss.

- গুরুতর: ত্বকের মারাত্মক প্রতিক্রিয়া (এশীয় বংশোদ্ভূতদের ক্ষেত্রে HLA-B*1502 পরীক্ষার কথা বিবেচনা করুন), জন্মগত ত্রুটি, হাড় ক্ষয়।
