Rifzo 2-FDC DT Dispersible Tablet

Rifzo 2-FDC DT is indicated for the treatment of:

Tuberculosis treatment (usually the continuation phase) under the national TB programme.

Isoniazid blocks mycolic acid synthesis; rifampicin blocks bacterial RNA polymerase.

Dosage and administration of Rifzo 2-FDC DT:

• Dose is by body weight as per national guidelines, as a fixed-dose combination (for example isoniazid 75-150 mg with rifampicin 150 mg per tablet), once daily on an empty stomach.
• Treatment lasts at least 6 months with directly observed therapy.

Rifzo 2-FDC DT may interact with:

Rifampicin reduces the effect of many drugs: oral contraceptives, warfarin, antiretrovirals, antidiabetics and others.

Rifzo 2-FDC DT should not be used in:

• Acute liver disease.
• Hypersensitivity; porphyria.

Possible side effects of Rifzo 2-FDC DT:

• Nausea, rash, orange discolouration of urine and secretions.
• Hepatitis, nerve damage (give pyridoxine), blood disorders.

Pregnancy category: C

Use of Rifzo 2-FDC DT in pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Used in pregnancy when needed, with pyridoxine.

Precautions while using Rifzo 2-FDC DT:

• Monitor liver function.
• Complete the full course; report yellow eyes or dark urine.
