Redep Tablet

Redep is indicated for the treatment of:

• Major depression.
• Generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder and panic disorder.
• Obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Raises serotonin levels in the brain by blocking its reuptake.

Dosage and administration of Redep:

• Adults: 10 mg once daily (maximum 20 mg); 5 mg to start in panic disorder; 5-10 mg in the elderly.
• Benefit appears after 2-4 weeks; stop gradually.

Redep may interact with:

MAO inhibitors, tramadol, triptans and other serotonergic drugs; NSAIDs and anticoagulants (bleeding); omeprazole and cimetidine (raise levels); QT-prolonging drugs.

Redep should not be used in:

• Use with MAO inhibitors, linezolid or pimozide.
• Congenital long QT or QT prolongation.
• Hypersensitivity.

Possible side effects of Redep:

• Nausea, headache, sleeplessness or drowsiness, sweating, sexual side effects, low sodium.
• Rare: suicidal thoughts (especially in young adults), serotonin syndrome, bleeding.

Pregnancy category: C

Use of Redep in pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Use only if the benefit outweighs the risk; the newborn may show withdrawal-like effects.

Precautions while using Redep:

• Watch mood and suicidal thoughts, especially early in treatment and in young people.
• Caution in epilepsy, bleeding disorders and heart disease.
• Do not stop suddenly.
