G-Flucloxacillin Dry Powder For Suspension

G-Flucloxacillin Dry is indicated for the treatment of:

• Skin and soft tissue infections such as boils, cellulitis and infected wounds.
• Bone and joint infections.
• Other infections caused by penicillinase-producing staphylococci.

Bactericidal; blocks bacterial cell-wall synthesis.

Dosage and administration of G-Flucloxacillin Dry:

• Adults: 250-500 mg every 6 hours, taken on an empty stomach (1 hour before food); severe infections need higher or injectable doses.
• Children: by body weight.

G-Flucloxacillin Dry may interact with:

Methotrexate (higher levels), warfarin, probenecid.

G-Flucloxacillin Dry should not be used in:

• Penicillin allergy.
• History of liver problems with flucloxacillin.

Possible side effects of G-Flucloxacillin Dry:

• Nausea, diarrhoea, rash.
• Rare: cholestatic jaundice (may appear after treatment ends), severe allergy.

Pregnancy category: B

Use of G-Flucloxacillin Dry in pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Considered acceptable in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Precautions while using G-Flucloxacillin Dry:

• Liver injury risk is higher in the elderly and with longer courses.
• Reduce dose in kidney impairment.
