Indicationsনির্দেশনা
Fotax is indicated for the treatment of:
- Serious infections: pneumonia, meningitis, septicaemia.
- Complicated urinary tract, intra-abdominal, bone and skin infections.
- Gonorrhoea; surgical prophylaxis.
Fotax নিম্নলিখিত ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয়:

Bactericidal; blocks bacterial cell-wall synthesis.

Dosage & Administrationমাত্রা ও সেবনবিধি
Dosage and administration of Fotax:
- Adults: 1-2 g IV or IM every 8-12 hours (up to 12 g/day in life-threatening infection); gonorrhoea 500 mg to 1 g single IM dose.
- Reduce in kidney impairment.
Fotax-এর মাত্রা ও সেবনবিধি:
- প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক: প্রতি ৮-১২ ঘণ্টা অন্তর IV বা IM এ 1-2 g (জীবন-ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ সংক্রমণে দৈনিক 12 g পর্যন্ত); গনোরিয়ায় একবারে IM এ 500 mg-1 g।
- কিডনির কার্যক্ষমতা কম থাকলে কমান।

Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.

Possible side effects of Fotax:
- Diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, rash.
- Rare: severe allergic reaction, Clostridioides difficile colitis, blood disorders.

Precautions while using Fotax:
- Check for penicillin or cephalosporin allergy before use.
- Reduce the dose in kidney impairment.
- Prolonged use can cause overgrowth of resistant organisms.
