Epozil Tablet

Epozil is indicated for the treatment of:

• Pharyngitis and tonsillitis.
• Otitis media and sinusitis.
• Acute bronchitis and flare-ups of chronic bronchitis.
• Uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections.

Bactericidal; blocks bacterial cell-wall synthesis.

Dosage and administration of Epozil:

• Adults: 250-500 mg every 12 hours (or 500 mg once daily) for 10 days.
• Children: 7.5-15 mg/kg every 12 hours.
• Reduce in kidney impairment.

Epozil may interact with:

Warfarin (higher bleeding risk); probenecid raises cephalosporin levels; nephrotoxic drugs such as aminoglycosides need kidney monitoring.

Epozil should not be used in:

Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.

Possible side effects of Epozil:

• Diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, rash.
• Rare: severe allergic reaction, Clostridioides difficile colitis, blood disorders.

Pregnancy category: B

Use of Epozil in pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Considered acceptable in pregnancy and breastfeeding when needed.

Precautions while using Epozil:

• Check for penicillin or cephalosporin allergy before use.
• Reduce the dose in kidney impairment.
• Prolonged use can cause overgrowth of resistant organisms.
