Cefoxitin is indicated for the treatment of:
- Intra-abdominal, pelvic, skin, bone and lower respiratory tract infections.
- Surgical prophylaxis (for example colorectal or gynaecological surgery).
Cefoxitin নিম্নলিখিত ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহৃত হয়:
- পেটের ভেতর, শ্রোণি, ত্বক, হাড় ও নিচের শ্বাসনালির সংক্রমণ।
- সার্জিক্যাল প্রফিল্যাক্সিস (যেমন কোলোরেক্টাল বা গাইনোকলজিক্যাল অস্ত্রোপচার)।
Pharmacologyফার্মাকোলজি
Bactericidal; blocks bacterial cell-wall synthesis.
ব্যাকটেরিয়া-নাশক; ব্যাকটেরিয়ার কোষ-প্রাচীর তৈরি আটকে দেয়।
Dosage & Administrationমাত্রা ও সেবনবিধি
Dosage and administration of Cefoxitin:
- Adults: 1-2 g IV every 6-8 hours (up to 12 g daily in severe infection); surgical prophylaxis 1-2 g before surgery.
- Reduce in kidney impairment.
Cefoxitin-এর মাত্রা ও সেবনবিধি:
- প্রাপ্তবয়স্ক: প্রতি ৬-৮ ঘণ্টায় শিরায় ১-২ g (গুরুতর সংক্রমণে দৈনিক ১২ g পর্যন্ত); সার্জিক্যাল প্রফিল্যাক্সিসে অস্ত্রোপচারের আগে ১-২ g।
- কিডনির কার্যক্ষমতা কম থাকলে কমান।
Interactionড্রাগ ইন্টারঅ্যাকশন
Cefoxitin may interact with:
Warfarin (higher bleeding risk); probenecid raises cephalosporin levels; nephrotoxic drugs such as aminoglycosides need kidney monitoring.
Cefoxitin-এর সাথে যেসব ওষুধের ইন্টারঅ্যাকশন হতে পারে:
ওয়ারফারিন (রক্তক্ষরণের ঝুঁকি বেশি); প্রোবেনেসিড সেফালোস্পোরিনের মাত্রা বাড়ায়; অ্যামিনোগ্লাইকোসাইডের মতো কিডনির জন্য ক্ষতিকর ওষুধে কিডনি পর্যবেক্ষণ দরকার।
Contraindicationsপ্রতিনির্দেশনা
Cefoxitin should not be used in:
Hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.

Side Effectsপার্শ্বপ্রতিক্রিয়া
Possible side effects of Cefoxitin:
- Diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain, rash.
- Rare: severe allergic reaction, Clostridioides difficile colitis, blood disorders.
Cefoxitin-এর সম্ভাব্য পার্শ্বপ্রতিক্রিয়া:
- ডায়রিয়া, বমি বমি ভাব, পেটব্যথা, ত্বকে র্যাশ।
- বিরল: মারাত্মক অ্যালার্জি, ক্লোস্ট্রিডিওয়ডিস ডিফিসাইল কোলাইটিস, রক্তের সমস্যা।

Considered acceptable in pregnancy and breastfeeding when needed.

প্রয়োজনে গর্ভাবস্থা ও বুকের দুধ খাওয়ানোর সময় গ্রহণযোগ্য বলে বিবেচিত।
Precautions & Warningsসতর্কতা
Precautions while using Cefoxitin:
- Check for penicillin or cephalosporin allergy before use.
- Reduce the dose in kidney impairment.
- Prolonged use can cause overgrowth of resistant organisms.
Cefoxitin ব্যবহারের সময় সতর্কতা:
- ব্যবহারের আগে পেনিসিলিন বা সেফালোস্পোরিনে অ্যালার্জি আছে কি না দেখে নিন।
- কিডনির কার্যক্ষমতা কম থাকলে মাত্রা কমাতে হবে।
- দীর্ঘদিন ব্যবহারে ওষুধ-প্রতিরোধী জীবাণুর অতিবৃদ্ধি হতে পারে।
