Clotrimazole

Clotrimazole is indicated for the treatment of:

• Fungal skin infections: athlete's foot, ringworm, jock itch.
• Vaginal candidiasis (cream, pessary) and oral thrush (lozenge).

Blocks fungal cell-membrane synthesis.

Dosage and administration of Clotrimazole:

• Skin: apply 1% cream two to three times daily for 2-4 weeks.
• Vaginal: 500 mg pessary as a single dose or 100-200 mg for 3-6 nights, as per the product label.

Clotrimazole may interact with:

Few with topical use; miconazole can raise warfarin effect.

Clotrimazole should not be used in:

Hypersensitivity to azoles.

Possible side effects of Clotrimazole:

Local burning, itching, redness, irritation.

Pregnancy category: C

Use of Clotrimazole in pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Use only if clearly needed.

Precautions while using Clotrimazole:

• Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
• Avoid contact with the eyes.
