Destone Tablet

Destone is indicated for the treatment of:

• Dissolution of small cholesterol gallstones.
• Primary biliary cholangitis.
• Cholestatic liver conditions.

Reduces cholesterol in bile and protects liver cells by improving bile flow.

Dosage and administration of Destone:

• Gallstones: 8-12 mg/kg once daily at night (or in divided doses) for 6-24 months.
• Primary biliary cholangitis: 13-15 mg/kg/day in divided doses with food.

Destone may interact with:

Antacids with aluminium and cholestyramine reduce absorption; ciclosporin levels may rise.

Destone should not be used in:

• Acute inflammation of the gallbladder or bile ducts, blocked bile ducts, calcified gallstones.
• Hypersensitivity.

Possible side effects of Destone:

• Diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal pain.
• Rare: itching, worsening of liver disease.

Pregnancy category: B

Use of Destone in pregnancy and breastfeeding:

Avoid in the first trimester.

Precautions while using Destone:

Liver function tests during treatment.
