Propofol is indicated for the treatment of:
- Induction and maintenance of general anaesthesia.
- Sedation in intensive care and during procedures.

Dosage & Administrationমাত্রা ও সেবনবিধি
Dosage and administration of Propofol:
Hospital use only by an anaesthetist: induction 1.5-2.5 mg/kg IV; maintenance infusion 4-12 mg/kg/hour; sedation 0.3-4 mg/kg/hour.

Propofol should not be used in:
- Hypersensitivity to propofol, egg, soy or peanut (depending on product).
- Sedation in children under 16 in intensive care.

Possible side effects of Propofol:
- Low blood pressure, breathing pauses, pain at the injection site, slow heart rate.
- Rare: propofol infusion syndrome with prolonged high doses.

Precautions while using Propofol:
- Breathing must be supported and resuscitation equipment kept at hand.
- Reduce the dose in the elderly and in shock.
